Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Is it just me or is it worse here than ever?

Please give me an honest answer: how (un)satisfied are you with your job here lately?
I am terribly dissatisfied, but on the other hand I wonder if I've reached the saturation point and if I am exaggerating a bit. Perhaps my expectations are too high. I’m sick of this company, but on the other hand I’m a little skeptical that the grass is much greener elsewhere.

Here on Rochester we left $1 Billion dollars on the table. We completely missed the boat on FTTH. Most of our market is DSL feed and only has .5% FTTH market penetration. We have a competitor that is building out FTTH 5x faster than us. They beat us to the punch and we lost any customers we could have retained. We have a deal 70 year old copper outside plant.

FTR hired a guy back who went back and forth to WIN/Windstream how many times. Oh wait.....affirmative action part of FCC/EEOC. Most companies you quit to a comp and they don't take you back unless your the dead buffalo Frontired.

“We sit here in the mid states and rot. We keep hearing about these glorious plans for fiber to home while none of them include us. Our municipalities are fed up and forming their own providers and plan to overbuild while we offer 9m dsl service and foolishly spend our CAF money on pumping dsl to cows and chickens in the middle of no where.”

That CAF money being spent on dsl to cows and chickens is so “executives” can stay out of Jail. The fed only says we have to build the cr-p to take the money. No one said 1 person had to be using it. Where do you think this company gets its money for bonuses. If it weren’t for CAF and Federal COVID pay (meant for employees) the company wouldn’t have a dime to be able to fool their shareholders with.

Agree 100%. This is perhaps the only company I can think of or, at least have direct experience with, that seems to intentionally hire incompetence for all their mid level, directors and Executives. Both GTE and Verizon used to only promote from the bottom up with experienced employees. With the lack of incentives offered by Frontier. No hourly will be caught dead taking a management position. Especially, when all your peers would be incompetent people off the street that were hired simply because they had a degree in some useless subject. Or even better someone that was fired, laid off or worked for a year or two for a cable company, some mom and pop phone company or a wireless. We have a lot of the useless folks around. Most if not all of them spend their time giving useless and many times unlawful direction on how a telecom does business. This is one business where you can’t simply make up your own rules and they certainly don’t teach it in college.

I was perfectly content working for GTE and then even Verizon. This company just keeps doing everything it can to make decisions that defy logic. That is of course unless they are intentionally trying to run it into the ground. Dissatisfied? I’d say that’s an understatement.
