Promotion

I would like to get a promotion but it seems better to forget about it. I worked hard to achieve that, but in vain. The rules for how to get a promotion are fuzzy and I feel left to my own devices in finding a way to achieve my career goals.

  • How does one get a promotion here?
  • Lately, I've been wondering if it makes any sense to keep trying or is it better to look for opportunities somewhere else?

It's better for management if they can just slowly get you to take on more responsibility without actually promoting you.

Halliburton is like Blockbuster video - being phased out.

At Baroid in Oklahoma, it’s a well known fact that the ones who sucked up, kept their job. Helps to have friends in high places in H town. Look no further than Elk City or Pocasset

People that aren't able to get another job have been promoted and paid enough.

Good luck with getting that promotion at Halliworld. You have a better chance to get your promotion by leaving for a different company. At this point Halliburton only knows one thing to control cost and give you as little as possible. There are always fresh meat at the market to replace your ar-e with. Halliburton does not give a sh!t at how well you do your job or what you are doing for the bottom line. Halliburton is just looking at the bottom line and controlling their cost for the shareholders.

Promotions are like the p-t of gold at the end of the rainbow, and why should they, when, it if was like when I was working internationally, YOU can, and will, be replaced by a TCN for maybe a quarter to a third of what you are being paid, their travel expense will be much less, or, they will not allow your replacement to live in, all of which result in massive savings.

But the surest way to see that you don't get promoted, is to keep adding IlLearn courses so that you are NEVER complete.

Own your career and look where you can get fairly compensated.

Go elsewhere! Halliburton is horrible for recognizing hardwork. Promotions are only for those that kiss the right @sses. The only thing you get for being reliable and hardworking is doing someone else's job in addition to your own with no additional pay.
