Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

As omitted from local tri state mass media 2020-2021

Advice to Management (Future/Past)

Stop with the sugar coated stories of late, nobody cares about your hobbies.

Your failure to deliver on promises to bring jobs to the Long Island community and become a beacon for innovation, cultural and educational advancement,
a hub for economic growth, is disgraceful, and is a direct result of your incompetence.

Canon took advantage of all the state and local tax breaks in the process of building its brand new headquarters on the inflated ego of its former CEO.

Yet local politicians and media fail to report on the harm Canon has caused to hundreds of employees and thier families who were laid-off in the middle of pandemic

under the guise of "restructuring".

The company made no attempt to save these jobs, like other socially responsible companies did during the pandemic by eliminating bonuses, offering temporary furloughs, or temporarily reducing 401k contributions. (Cowardly!)

Where are all the new jobs that were promised? Where are the new businesses and industries that were supposed to sprout up as a result of the tax breaks?

Where is the investment in local schools, STEM programs, arts and culture, that you were supposed to bring?

Great technology companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc., brings jobs and invest in the communities in which they operate,

Unfortunately, Canon is not in the same class as these firms.

It is just a matter of time before we'll see a "for sale" sign at the gates of One Canon Park. The land would've been better off left as a pumpkin patch.

well said! It's amazing that the hundred of layoffs since January 2020 was completely unreported. That gigantic building is now like an empty tomb.
