So what does subscriptions like Pearson+ mean for Follett? Is this going to be major competition or will we sell it? Publishers are innovating Follett is not.

Speaking of Pearson, and this coming from someone outside of Follett, what has Follett's response been to Pearson's new returns policy? Having to do RMAs now sucks but that's just a matter of adapting. It's the no returns on custom print ISBNs after 07/01/21 that really blows.
It'll work about as good an Cengage. Our customers are to d-mb to see the value.
It may affect locations that sell a ton of Pearson products but, honestly, it's not really that big a thing in my view. It's not game changing. It's not putting anyone out of business. It's just one more way for Pearson to try to squeeze any extra money they can out of students.
Follett may try to sell it, but it will be a year late and, as usual, behind the curve. They can’t even get their internet to work consistently across the company. Net never!
