Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Appreciate your Salaried Store Employees

Follett needs to offer some recognition to their salaries store employees. I think it’s great their offering a premium to hourly employees, but what about the salaried store members who are working all day everyday during rush? Who take the blame when things go wrong but have no upside when things go right?

Follett is no more? Do you mean FSS, FHEG, Baker and Taylor or all of Follett? Details!

Like they said, move on! It’s like you’re in an abusive relationship that you can’t let go of. Go and don’t look back. Stop complaining about old stuff.

To the “delusional douche canoe” who keeps saying that people can leave at any time....

You are so right! I don’t understand how coming on a site like this to keep complaining is going to help these unhappy employees. Follett won’t change just because an anonymous person comes on here crying “woe is me”. Find another job!

And the ones who left a long time ago and STILL can’t seem to let go, move on with your life! Why are you still giving another second of your time for a company you hate? I just don’t get how so many people have this much time on their hands.

Ivory Tower J—O here, not an EVP though. I appreciate all the field does, but I don’t appreciate being lumped in with your perception of HO. I work around 60 hours a week, non-rush, and rush trends at about 70-75 hours.

You are servicing the customers, but who do you call to help when you have issues? Who is the team that has trained you and created all the documents you need? Who is the one that has provided the systems that you can ring that customer up on? Who is the one that jumps in every rush to help with web exceptions and stores without managers?

HO. We all serve a purpose and the process would break without all of our contributions.

the delusional d#$che canoe is strong evidence of the support we get from HO in these extraordinarily stressful times. Funny, the military would refer to US as the tip of the spear - we're the customer (cash flow) facing part of the equation. Not some J-O EVP sitting in the Ivory Tower bellowing how he never fails!

What I am taking away from the first posters comment:

You will never see a merit increase in these positions, but! You might bonus! If we decide we are going to pay our bonuses that year that is..

To the delusional douche canoe who keeps saying that people can leave at any time....

Go play in traffic.

You are redundant and also ignorant.

Sincerely,
Everyone

During Rush, I actually make less per hour than my hourly employees, because I'm typically working 60+ hours during those weeks. Not to mention the stress, time away from my family, etc. It really is a slap in the face.

Still angry about the fact that while many retailers were giving their essential employees extra hazard pay, Follett actually cut ours. We risked our health to run their stores, and they took money from us and our families. Absolutely evil.

"They get bonuses based on performance."

That is hilarious. Even if stores perform, bonuses are not guaranteed. Every year we have to wait for the higher ups to decide if they will actually offer them. Every year (sometimes every quarter) the criteria for earning bonus changes. And sometimes they decide to cut our bonus percentage

Nevermind the fact that they have not given out proper raises in who even knows how long. We might get a "raise" to "bring us up to the minumum salary requirements." You know...the minimum level so they can demand we work overtime without being paid overtime.

No, the last poster is very much mistaken. This company is struggling. I am looking to get out, and you should be too. The company will never give you adequate recompense for your work. Focus your efforts on making your exit.

Salaried employees get many more benefits that hourly employees don't get.
They get bonuses based on performance - do a good job and you are financially rewarded.

And, must we keep reminding you??
This company is strong and will be around for many generations to come.
If you are unhappy you can leave at any time.
Do you not understand?
You can leave at any time.
