At one point I thought that all my close colleagues would end up leaving here. People were leaving en masse. That's why I'm surprised now because no one has left for almost two weeks.
Does it seem to you that the trend of leaving has decreased or is it that almost everyone who was marketable has already left?
Wait until the end of the month, trick or treat….
We are waiting to see what they force etc. it’s a matter of time. I’m in the field and the morale is gone and we are just holding for now. Yes we can find new jobs but we really don’t want to jump just yet.
The grass is greener :)
There are plenty of quality people that are sticking around. The people that I have seen leave on their own accord have been a mixture of high performers, clock watchers, and everything in between.
It's not all gloom and doom across MPC, especially at the legacy Andeavor locations. In fact, legacy Andeavor locations are still great and have for the most part stayed in fantastic shape despite the semi-purging of leadership. I am not a fan of big offices so I don't really like Findlay or San Antonio much but all the other regional offices have been terrific.
There is nothing I hear from my friends and former collogues at Phillips 66, Chevron, or Valero that would make me think the grass is any greener at another company in this industry. Friends in other industry do "cooler" stuff but don't get paid any better when I take in to account all of my benefits and compensation perks.
Only the dead wood is left - i.e. those who cannot get a job elsewhere.
Picking up noticably at our location, although there had not been too many in the previous few months. People jokingly (or not) starting to ask if they know something we don't.
