Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

Positions terminated for holiday?

Does anyone have any insight to what holiday plans are going to be from corporate? I was told the company eliminated event positions and private employees would be setting up Santa’s wonderland. Also they would be eliminating customer service positions. Management “joked” full time employees would have to rotate being elves this year. I’ll quit before I wear that green hat.

Our store will also have staffing problems with Wonderland and we were told to expect to be called to help Santa. Tough task because we can't even staff regular shifts, and many long time employees have moved on elsewhere. The extra burden, along with upcoming extended store hours, will turn everyone into a Grinch this season. Sad because this was a fun environment for many years.

See Santa, get a time-share and sign up for a credit card! Oh, you want that item advertised in the flyer? Let's see if it is available online.

That position was let go at our store almost two years ago. They put it on other managers to staff it and it’s been fine.

This site is dedicated to discussing firing and layoffs. Stop lurking if you’re just going to tell someone to “let it go” & “go find new employment”. They let go of our event planner too. I think the company is getting rid of event positions completely from what we are told. Idk what this holiday is going to look like.
