Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Follett is on the brink of collapse

I really think Follett is on the brink of collapse. Everyone is overworked and underpaid. Stores are understaffed. The HO departments are so far behind on everything. We can't seem to ever pay our vendors on time. Teams getting outsourced. Constant technology/systems failures. Students going elsewhere for books. Overpriced merchandise that that no one wants. It really feels like each year has gotten worse and worse. I've never seen things this bad. It really feels like we're dangerously close to a full-on collapse here.

Perfectly stated by @6hnl+1cZK9HGg.

Free Thyself is absolutely right. I got out almost 4 months ago and have a new job that is leaps and bound away from the abuse that Follett puts us through. I didn't realize how toxic it was until I was gone. I loved working for Follett until the last couple years. And I never thought I'd leave. But it truly was liberating. I now work for a place that actually honors the work-life balance, has supportive leadership, and I'm being paid my worth.

Get out if you can, and I am not being a doomsday nay sayer. It just really is better on the other side.

Good luck, all.

I got out last month. Stop giving Follett chances to improve because they won’t and they’re failing. Liberation is real. Do yourself a favor and know your worth, and find another employer who appreciates you.

They have us a raise by cutting back on other areas, namely payroll hours. My FT ASM got a 3% raise, but then I was told she can no longer work 40 hours a week. My PT staff got 3% raises, but will be lucky to get 10 hours a month. We SMs got 3% raises but now we'll be doing the work of multiple people. At the end of the day, Follett is still saving money. We'll continue to see more and more cuts as sales keep declining.

How do you think they gave us a raise?

I really have to agree. This is sad. This company is completely changed from when I started working here.
