Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

Let’s be honest.. Is working in a grocery store (Giant Eagle) a job of the past?

The pay is extremely low compared to other retail jobs. Giant Eagle only pays $12 an hour. The company doesn’t offer any type of incentive to work there such as Walmart, Amazon and Target paying for college tuition. The work hours are all over the place and not a steady schedule. Working weekends and Holidays. As a part time employee you can get your weekly hours cut down to 18hrs a week.

I have to be honest. If I was a teenager or even a single parent I wouldn’t apply for a job at Giant Eagle.

YES! I’m pretty sure the kids who work at the Nikey factory get paid better

No single parent could afford to work at Giant Eagle and raise a kid.

I agree. Nothing changes at the retail level. You would think they would figure out a way to schedule employees so they can get a weekend a month off etc. They have the mentality if it’s not broke don’t fix it. But guess what. It’s broken

I left Giant and work at an Aldi now.
Happy. I do everything required and feel appreciated.
