Anyone would care to chime in with a prediction about potential Suncor Energy layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Within a day of forced retirements and others layoffs, Suncor announced the $1B purchase from Teck Resources' their 21% stake in the Fort Hills project . The banks were happy and Teck Resources were one can be sure. Finances back in control in one hand and out again from the bank in the other. All looks good fixing the books to show fiscal efficiency And in line with Suncors own plans to move further away from the Base plant mine operations process .There are better ways to save money, just ask around, anyone that might know, god forbid ask a lowly employee.
So far those known ex employees laid off this week by Suncor are many in the twighlight zone of retirement 54 - 60 putting their hopes for a better retirement into an early grave. Too much of a coincidence that this selection saves Suncor more money in pension and medical benefit payments in the next 1 to 5 years? Would like to know more of the age demographic in this current round of retrenchments,it appears to have been a primary selection factor that deprives many of maximising their long term retirement benefits.
Layoffs could come with duplication of roles as Syncrude and Suncor merge. Happens all the time as companies grow and pull together. There’s too many people doing the same thing. Not long into the merger, people’s roles are being merged together and layoffs/terminations/downsizing begins.
Investors and executive management want the extra income without the extra costs.
Suncor upper management unhappy with poor performance from maintenance workers hired from cnrl
Due to lack of knowledge making determination decisions of machinery
Resulting in massive issues in the process.. truly need to clear house
Fresh start with new group…
If it hasn’t happened yet it will
If the main share holders want to protect there assets.. maybe be too late
With oil price this high nothing will be major for layoffs this year. This is good news. Inflation believe it or not, increased the chance of being busy. But with more stable news oil prices likely to go down. More EV cars are coming in 2-3 years.
