Several in my department and others were laid off today! Get out while you can!
"with their insipid boot licking rah-rah"
Hilarious and sadly so true!!
"There was a notice today on WorkPlace that there were 149 new hires in October. "
Yeah, and 148 of them were hired to hold the iPhone to take photos of the "work from home" twits that post happy thoughts and selfies on Workplace and generally spend most of their day annoying the heck out of us in the Field with their insipid boot licking rah-rah.
As for the 149th hire - that poor bastid is the one having to open all of the moving boxes.
The CWA is currently negotiating a labor contract with the NEW DIRECTV with heavy emphasis on job security. The rumor has always been that at some point, TPG will push for installers to be 1099s or full on contractors.
Oddly enough, my entire crew has gone from 6 day weeks to sitting idle 3 to 4 hours a day waiting for jobs - fully knowing that jobs are pending because the IHX guys show us the list even though we and our own Supervisors can no longer see the daily workload through our own job assignment apps.
We end up not getting a full route of work and then find out the orphaned jobs were Dispatch rescheduled for lack of "Tech Capacity" - all while 28 Techs are sitting in their trucks waiting for work.
We are starting to think that the system is intentionally tanking us for some reason we have yet to discern.
Don't trust these guys.
