Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Going to work for direct competition

I came to State Street from a company that was not a competitor, and now I have received a very tempting offer from direct competitors. I talked to people who also crossed over to competitors and they all tell me that there was something very satisfying about it. It’s a new experience for me and I think I will be very uncomfortable working there. I'm really in a dilemma about it.

Businesswise STT has too many competitors. Technology wise, STT is certainly in the low classes. If STT treats you as nothing while you are working at STT, where is your concern come from or does anyone in STT care.

This company does one thing really well. It 'gas lights' its employees. Starts from the top flows through HR etc. Next time you attend A meeting on the corporate level, listen to how senior management and HR addresses employee's legitimate concerns. It is really disturbing. This is a very sick company.

Post ID: @OP+1dYZJnxI - I would accept the offer. I worked in the financial services industry for many years and many of my colleagues have worked for several different financial services companies in their career. The continual outsourcing and improvements in technology will continue. Working for a different organization could be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.

The problem is most of the competitors have done the same thing as most large companies.

Outsource jobs , move operations to another state or country

Bring in H1B workers

I will answer the question this way.....when my grandfather immigrated to America after WWI from Eastern Europe he did so based on a single belief.....it can't possibly be worse in America than it is in Europe. He was right of course! So consider State Street to be Europe after WWI....going anywhere else can't be...going to any competitor...must be better than staying at the old Clipper Ship! Make the move!

Which competitor? I've worked for the green machine. It's not roses and sunshine over there either.
