Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Don't worry about layoffs- we staff are in the driver's seat now-we have upper hand!

A record 4.3 million people quit their jobs in August, evidence of the considerable leverage workers have in today's economy : this per the CNN story today. Millions of people unhappy are walking off their jobs to NEW jobs paying more than are more desireable. CNN called it the Golden Age of Employees who now run the show. Yes we are calling the shots. Companies with bad pay or environments are not able to hire and their staff are bailing on them. This will really hurt "some" firms bottom line and investors and shareholders wont like it! Gone are the 2008 days when you begged companies to get a job or to keep your job. The you just hoped for a decent raise at year end. The companies never discussed your future or how you could rise. Just work harder than everyone else. THOSE DAYS ARE NOW GONE BABY!

FWIW - I ghosted DST about a year ago. Got a better job, didnt have vacation to pay out. Sc--w-em

I have seen more and more news on employees now calling the shots. When fast food chains pay $15 per hour (over 30k per year) to work serving burgers, then company like DST must pay more too. Otherwise a $15 per hour DST associate will quit and go to burger place for much less stress, free parking and work close to home.

Yes DST has to compete against McDonald's in some cases. Even for higher paying jobs as a McDonalds manager can make over 80k. And whats the worse thing that goes wrong there? Your ice cream machine breaks? You spill fries? You give a $5.00 refund once in a while? I done love the smell of fries in the morning!

Don't forget about the workplace ghosting! It means people just leave their job and quit without notice, or give any signs that they wont be coming in the next workday. And it doesnt hurt your resume as recruiters do not care - they just want to fill the open spots in their business and will give you the job. There is always a better paying job you can get! A matter a fact - MANY better jobs you can get very easily! The workforce has turned upside down and employees are in charge now. HR has lost its power.
