Thread regarding Unilever layoffs

Life after Unilever

Did 24.5 years with unilever mostly enjoying my time with them . The last 5 years not so much . I was made redundant due to a factory closure. We was all looked after and cant fault them for that . I was left wondering what now ! Well it opened my eyes . There are far better companies outside of the unilever bubble , that treat you with respect and honesty. Dont be scared of leaving unilever. Do yourself a favour and leave its a big world with plenty of opportunities and many of them are far better then unilever. Never forget they are ruthless and penny pinchers and your just a number and disposable at the drop of a hat !

That’s true. So much external PR for this company. But deep inside is horrible. At the end of the day or a decade, I’m just like a number worth X euros to them. Like can be easily paid while the bosses continue to enjoy their jobs by hiring people with cheaper salaries from me. Either lower grade , like from WL2 to 1, or country with cheaper salaries.

I feel you. Exact same sentiment. in Singapore, our unit has a lot of Indian leaders, they maintain people of their own ethnicity while Southeast Asia foreigners are not treated similarly. But win - win. The Indians maintain their own people, while we get the money.

I never worked at Unilever. But I worked at Colgate-Palmolive Co.
Same exact story. Terrible management. All they do is outsource jobs for the past 10 years. Still, Stock prices suck. May be time to Fire the people at the top.
