I read this press release. I think it’s great they have hired a Chief Health Officer, but do we really think the company’s most important message to our people is “You matter.” The release mentions “We need to normalize taking care of yourself, and we support you in whatever that means for you.”
I’ve seen and heard of people having requests denied when tied to mental health, wellness and advocating for themselves. At the end of the day, it will come down to your direct leadership, Accenture will ensure you are delivering over any mental health at stake. I feel like this company wants to be the catch all... most profitable but the most empathetic and “human” but in business does it all actually go hand-in-hand? Smart strategic move given that the Persons with Disabilities, especially those this invisible disabilities have been marginalized, ignored, pushed out and made to feel less than for a long time at Accenture, while using their own ailments against them in performance ratings.
