Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

This was a stupid move

Who in their right mind lays people off in the middle of one of the worst labor shortages ever? I understand they want to get rid of people with higher pay, but they won't be able to find cheaper employees to replace them in the current market. Does that mean we'll be stuck doing the work of those who were cut for who knows how long at no extra pay? I can tell you right now, not going to happen!

GA will always be able to find people to come in at cheaper rates! You keep assuming they hire qualified people! GA is the employer of opportunity! Right now a there is a head engineer at GA that has a bachelors degree in physical education. This individual is in charge of PHD engineers. When layoffs occurred who do you think they let go? The PHD engineer of the Physical education degree? Now GA is just looking for more Physical Education degrees to become engineers Bc they can pay less and it seems to be working!

the poster who has the 1/10 and 2/10 argument must be the d-mbest HR / manager in the history of the world. That reasoning and attitude explains why GA continues to shed talent. That poster would probably reply with 99-cent products or GA employees with unmarketable skills - more toxic words. Your employees keep leaving, and I keep laughing!

Most of the people at GA have such outdated skills they won’t be able to leave. One of the major problems currently at GA is no employee really know what it means to put in an honest day work. GA isn’t going to ask anyone to do extra work - just to take less naps. Maybe instead of working 1/10th of workers at other jobs maybe work 2/10ths. GA does realize that it’s work force has such outdated skills and is so lazy that other people won’t want them… so while working 2/10th of a regular work day is doubling GA employees workload it is still nothing compared to the real world.

Of course they're going to try to get the rest of us to do double work for the same pay. I've already dusted off my resume this weekend and started applying.
