Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Justify why you work here.

Has anyone had a meeting with their supervisor where it feels like they are asking you to justify why you have a job?

Like the old saying at Ncr managers get their job not necessarily by job performance but by a-s ki$$ing. In 25 years I’ve probably had 12 managers. 2 actually did the work I was doing so they knew their teams job. Others had no clue. But I will say their managers made unrealistic goals which had to be passed down. And those 2 managers knew it was wrong. But what could they do? I was asked to interview for a manager position and turned it down. They ask why, I said I love what I was doing now and two I can’t lie to people.
Think about knowing your going have to tell your team in two week their jobs be sent over seas. Trust me I sure it not fun knowing and the sleepless nights. My last and final layoff I had a good manager. I talked to him afterwards . He even felt betrayed as they were feeding him how great we were. He was laid off also btw. I found out later they hired him back and after a month he quit and went to diebold. He said I can’t believe how fk’ed this place is. And he worked at diebold before ncr and he said their almost as bad but not ncr bad.
Ncr really was a good place at one time.
Now it just a starter job two years tops.

"Even that manager is on a list somewhere."

Yeah, most of them. How do these id--ts get their jobs in the first place?

@1xfy+1dwNXrUR 44 yrs was a good run. I got my 25 year plate at 24 years 10 months. Then laid off, last day was 24y 11m 16 days. I sent the plate back to Nuti, with a thanks but no thanks letter.

That’s just fk’ed. if I was there one or two years and young just it of college not married I would’ve just walk out. Or probably said something smart a$$ like you hired me for a position you should as a manager know what my out put is, then as I got up and left say ‘ i will leave it at that. You were already on the list it just a game to them. Even that manager is on a list somewhere.

Yeah, sure.

We had some management changes last year. (I’m an engineer) The “new” guy wanted to have lunch with me.

Guess what; a month later I was on the RIF list. No one is safe at this sh-t box of a company.

Been there weeks before I was RIF’d Nov of 2018 after 44 years. This how they create the “hit list”. No right answers, just gives them cover if you fight your RIF. Start your nee job search now.

Yes. I just was asked to prepare a list of ‘what I do’ last week. And my managers explanation of why was weak- to show their boss I work on high value initiatives and can’t accept a stretch assignment.
