Thread regarding Lockheed Martin Corp. layoffs

Pay and benefits

I don’t know if competitors offer significantly higher pay and better benefits, but if they weren’t, many wouldn’t have gone to competitors lately. If the company does not improve working conditions, I think the attrition will be even higher.

How much more pay and benefits did you get after you left here?

I left the company for a competitor about 6 weeks ago, and while I’m still in the “honeymoon” phase, the difference is just astounding.

I called finance this past week because there were two direct deposits from my employer. Mistake? No. It was the Christmas bonus. That’s in addition to the Q4 bonus these guys got. Minimum amount? $1,000 for the Christmas bonus.

And an actual Christmas party with actual presents. Not the $10 junk LM was offering as an appreciation gift.

Life may not be perfect, but it’s a sore sight better than what I experienced while working for LM.

I recently left the company(3 months), and what shocked me was how much more our competitors are willing to offer compared to LM. Health benefits and 401Ks are about the same, but an instant 22% increase to my salary and more clearly defined (and more $$$) on a bonus?

Easy choice.

I know that Lockmart used to be “the place to be” for anyone who wanted to work in the defense industry, but they stopped being one of the better places to work for a while now. Leadership knows it. They just hope that the rest of the employees don’t notice.

For the first time in history, the employee now has the "upper hand" against the employer, and it's going to stay that way for quite some time. In fact, it may never go back to the way it use to be....Oh Well.

As far as benefits go, I live near the King of Prussia facility.

I could get a job at the local Acme grocery store as a part-timer and get better health and educational benefits than I presently do at LM. Lower weekly deduction as well.

I wish I were joking, and I was shocked to learn that my nephew’s high school job offered better benefits than Lockheed does.

They do if you have the skills.

Put another way, it took me 3 weeks to get an offer from one of our competitors. Same title.

30% pay increase. Better benefits.

Yeah… I don’t know what has happened to this company, but they’ve gone out of their way to make it easy to leave.
