If the company you are started interning with hands you a prewritten script for you to post on LinkedIn saying how excited you are to be joining, take that as a red flag. Oh, and at the end of your internship, you’ll receive another script to post about what a great company MPC is.

If you're in college you shouldn't even consider oil and gas to start your career. Yeah a 35/hr internship is nice. But go join a growing not dying industry you'll thank me in 10 years (probably less)
Have not seen the "word for word" posts on LinkedIn mentioned in the thread, I checked when I read that post, it's not there. Are there other social media sites where the "word for word" examples can been seen?
I’ve noticed that also, probably not a coincidence the intern posts are all the same word for word. What a sleazy company doesn’t surprise me a bit

That's just not true. I'm a current two-time intern at Marathon and never once have they made me or anyone that I know post these. In fact, I know of an instance where another co-op asked if they had anything we could share on our social media channels.
Another company I interned for provided similar materials that we COULD use if we wanted to, but again, it wasn't mandatory.
Sounds like you are disgruntled, or just here to complain for the sake of complaining. I bet you're not complaining about the $35/hour or more you're getting paid to INTERN at Marathon? Or, the real-time work experience you're gaining, or the contacts you're going to make working for such a large company?
