Where do you see us five years from now?

I see Follett still around but think Barnes will eventually eclipse us in number of stores. Now that they have ND and partnerships with Fanatics and Lids. They are taking on smaller schools also. The industry will continue to go away from physical books and more toward digital/subscribers to publishers etc. We honestly should partner with publishers to do a digital subscription service. Not sure if this would work but we need outside the box thinking. We can’t keep raising prices and cutting staff. Sticker shock and lack of service do not a hassle free shipping experience make.

Receipt survey response has been pushed for many years, nothing new, cashiers were directed to circle website, at one point I thought there was a $5 discount if the survey was filled out. Not too many were ever completed.

There definitely are some odd things happening that don't seem to make a ton of sense. Why, for instance, the new big push for the receipt survey responses, after just having done the big campus engagement survey? Makes little business sense why so much time and effort is now being devoted to pushing for more survey responses, unless perhaps it's to be able to cherry pick some good responses to present to potential buyers or to improve the image of their brand. Little things like that which may go unnoticed but seem to suggest some ulterior motives, because they don't make a lot of practical sense.

Follett's current business model and the way they operate their stores is simply not sustainable for much longer. The cracks are turning into canyons. Every year things get worse and worse, and the decline in even just the past year has been staggering. I strongly believe this company will not exist in 5 years. If anything with the Follett name continues to exist at all, it will be only a sliver of what it once was.
