Rotating large groups of UP police into LA. High rate of covid cases in the agents while working in LA. UP....crickets.

UP was all about Defund the police before anyone else. Cut the department to the bone after paying the McKenzie group to justify what they wanted to do. Until now the money saved outweighed the cost of losses. UPS threatened to pull contract so now UP scrambling.

They most certainly have police powers in States that their respective carrier has trackage rights in AT MINUMUM.

@qkq I think you better get your facts straight before you post again. The UP police are in fact actual police. They worked with local agencies when issues did arise. There was even some agents that had K9's. Do you think those K9's were just there to keep the agents company? The UP police can detain anyone they deem a threat to safety or security. The executives made decisions in the past that are now coming back to bite them.

@OP True, but cuts to the UP “police” started back in 2018, right around the time PSR became a secular religion.

UP “police” aren’t police officers. They have no powers of arrest. They can’t legally detain or even pursue you. They’re just glorified mall-cops. If you need the police, call an actual police officer.

The had the layoffs long before the mass thefts began. They started downsizing the RR police 15 years ago.
