Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

My coworker is safe

I notice a lot of people saying that nobody is safe here anymore, but that's not true. My coworker who rarely does anything beyond the bare minimum is never worried about his job. He's good friends with our manager's manager (I have my suspicions on how he got the job in the first place cough nepotism cough) and he knows that as such he's golden. What's our manager going to do, report him or recommend him to be laid off and get himself in trouble? Basically, if you know the right people, you're safe.

@ Thankfully Mothra is still here,

That was fun to read in a heavy Russian accent! Still no clue what you are trying to say though..

bogus... a bottom of the line manager's manager is not high enough up the food chain to be "safe". When the order comes down from the top to axe your coworker, those managers will have to do their job or they themselves will have to answer to the big man.

I know it’s of a manager that had best friend almost as a secretary. They have been scheming company for more than 5 years. Every move that has been made by manager is put in presentation by best friend. The whole company knows that manager is dead weight but guess best friend makes reports that the uppers love so they stay around. I even know they scam company on vacation and at one time had a company outside real careers and not one peep from upper management. But one did ask about fans….

Same reason why some directors are still around when everyone else below them from director to manager to ground level employee knows that they are garbage.
