I was part of the layoff earlier this month and another large portion of the employees are set to depart next Wednesday. A rumor circulating at the site is that Marathon toured the facility recently and is close to a deal on purchasing the refinery. Any one “in the know” out there can confirm this?

There are no buyers for this refinery and midstream has already started converting tanks for pipeline operations.
@dzcd+1eZTGuE8 - you mention “ Local management and work force could not demonstrate a sustained reliable operation”, but the refinery manager was just pulled out of the site and promoted to “VP” - crazy how things work
Who was refinery management meeting with today? 👀
This makes no business sense at all. If Phillips won’t spend the money to repair the flood damage, why would anyone else? Sounds like a wishful thinking story planted by someone hoping for a miracle. Local management and work force could not demonstrate a sustained reliable operation to overcome crude slate disadvantages. This led to corporate not having faith to invest in capital improvements that perpetuated the spiral of decline.
It seems reuters pulled this news out of their a-s….
Looks like something may be happening for you guys down there…. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/top-us-refiner-evaluating-idle-phillips-66-plant-renewable-fuel-sources-2022-01-26/
I’ve heard the refinery is still for sale and their is still some interest from buyers, but no one seems to know who the interred parties are.
Hope someone buys it. Praying for you guys!
