Thread regarding VMware layoffs

why would vmware layoff people during the great resignation?

the math doesnt add up
why would vmware need to do layoffs
wouldnt talent retention be worth gold and layoffs seem the opposite during a time when people are leaving? not seeing the calculus

Nobody wants to join VMware based on its lowball and down-level offers. They really think their pay and benefits are same as Meta/Google. Add on the people resigning, we are going to have a tough time.

CPBU leadership should be let go. It is deadwood. NSX 3.2 was pulled out. ESX7 update 3 was pulled out. Time to clean house in NSX and ESX.

For starters Rhagu needs to make a mark as new Exec and show his stake holders that he can make money. One way it to kick people out. Having said that - promotions are near impossible. Always easier to leave as P4 and come back as P5 rather than trying to get promoted internally.

If you get lay off this coming month, congratulations, you get the package
Watch out this company will do anything they can to avoid giving out package, see how many people force to quit of vaccine mandate, and they will dig your background to see if you violate anything and tries to fire you

What makes you think that yearly layoffs is a 'need'?
