Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Leave or wait a little longer?

Significant layoffs are already a common thing here. The past year and a half has been complete chaos and I doubt it’s over with big layoffs.
Given all that, I wonder if it’s better to wait a little longer until the next round of layoffs and go with severance pay or accept a slightly better paid new job and leave now?

I just recently went through the process of interviewing for new jobs after Staples laid me off back in November. I ended up receiving multiple job offers and started a new job within about 2 1/2 to 3 month’s time. The job that I ended up excepting paid me exceptionally more and has much better benefits than what I had at Staples. Every job I interviewed with had a salary/bonus/benefits structure that was more generous than anything Staples ever offered me. The job market is very hot right now, but that said, people should sharpen up the resumes and work on interview skills. One needs to make him or herself as marketable as possible and I think landing a job will happen more quickly.

Easier said than done for us older folks. Not so easy to get a better job or a job at all at our age. But I do agree it’s best to get out of this toxic company if you can. Good luck.

The market is great right now.. landed a job with way better pay and benefits. Plus it’s nice to have a stable job at a company that isn’t a complete mind F. I say get out now !

Get out and don’t look back. Swaggy suit, slick hair does not care about you.

I have always heard that it’s easier to find a job when you have a job.

You've got to do what's best for your mental health. It always seems it's easier to find a job when you have job.

as someone who recently found employment outside of Staples, let me assure you that many companies are paying much higher salaries than what you see at Staples. I'd get out now while the market is hot. its not worth the daily stress that you probably have now

Always better to look when working. Start interviewing and see what you find.
