Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

I would love to be a layoff target

If the rumor about cuts, which is spreading, is really true, then I am sure that for most it will not be very bad news, given that me and almost all my colleagues want to be layoff targets.
Sure, if rumor turns out to be true, I feel sorry for those who have no other option, but I certainly think a lot of people would love to get severance and leave?

I agree that GA and GA-ASI both are doing things to get people to quit. Layoffs take a lot of work and lots of money and why I don’t think they will do a repeat of August 2020! They laid off 650 people ( all over the age of 50- lots of lawsuits taking place) and they had to pay all those people for 3 mos their full pay and no one had to work ( per Fed Law) and then everyone was offered severance pay and benefits for 3 months after their last day which was Oct.27, 2020.
Then American Rescue pkg came in and we had our medical paid for for another 12 mos.
Then if you took the severance pkg you were not allowed to apply to any positions or ever work for GA again. After all that who would want to. I received all that plus unemployment with the added money from the FED GOV and gave us plenty of time to either retire or find work!! I chose to retire!! After working for GA for over 11 years, the company changed big time as soon as management changed. No longer a friendly family place to work. They hired way too many mgrs and not enough workers and tried to make a private company run like a public one!! The ones they have in chrg Rex and the invert have made the company the worst place to work!! They did me and lots of others a favor!! Glad to be gone!!

Omg I wish I got laid off! Too bad I doubt it’ll happen to me. I should have been a more terrible employee.

I recently left GA and I was able to find a found great position and great increase in salary elsewhere very easily. As a long time employee I agree I would have loved to have received a severance package prior to leaving. So disappointed in what has been happening to the company I used to take great pride in working at. My thoughts are it seems by the way way GA has been behaving this last year it seems they want people to quit so they don't have to do another layoff.
