Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

Christmas Parties!?

I was talking to a friend who had the pleasure (sarcasm) of working a venue that hosted the Giant Eagle & San Francisco team for a Christmas Party. No big deal except that 1) they flew them all across the country to attend when company travel is currently not permitted & 2) there wasn't a mask to be seen at the event. Such blatant hypocrisy is why no one takes these lunatics seriously. I wonder if the San Fran team was able to use a local gym while they were visiting since they couldn't visit the ones back home that Giant eagle pays the membership fees for?

They spend thousands on a Christmas party for themselves but turn around and give their employees a $15 gift card and slop (if they’re even up to giving us that much) for Christmas. I remember them serving us raw diced potatoes in watery cheese sauce in one pan and a bagel encrusted breakfast bowl thing in another pan as our holiday meal which looked like animal droppings that nobody ate. We’re just looking at them like thanks for the $15 gift card-that’s balonga sandwiches and a gallon of milk for the week. I remember when I first started with the company EVERY holiday, we got a $25-$50 gift card. Then it got cut down to Thanksgiving and Christmas only. Then the last year I was with the company, it was Christmas only and $15. At my new job, I get $3,000-$5,000 in bonuses.

You know what’s truly sad, the comments on here that are meant to sound sarcastic about “p-e-on’s” making the fat executives even fatter (btw B_ _ _ _ F _ _ _ _ _ _ we are talkin bout U!) might not actually be sarcasm and ACTUALLY some of the executives themselves. Truth be told, that truly is what the executives believe is reality and how everyone is disposable. They could care less about any of us, it’s blatantly obvious when you see how many executives they keep hiring paying them with blood money from the dozens of “Team Members” who have died throughout the pandemic stocking milk on the shelf so they continue to turn record breaking profits. Meanwhile retail “Team Members” continue to get their hours cut with record low payroll budgets. I see it firsthand how they continue to operate stores with skeleton crews because the company refuses to allow stores the labor they so desperately need is baffling to say the least.

Wonder if the same thing is happening at other companies who claim to care about their employees???

YES! Retail Team Members should concentrate on taking care of our customers, keeping shelves stocked and SHOWING UP FOR WORK during the busy holiday season. And if you work at Getgo enjoy spending your Christmas Day working and making Giant Eagle MONEY!

Yeah they cut Christmas parties like 10 plus years ago. They used to do decent ones like Dave and busters and renting out the rainforest at the zoo. It's no longer a employee friendly company

Don't worry, this party wasn't for us peons. Just the GE Execs & San Fran elites. Each of them got to expense thousands of dollars in travel, hotels, etc to come celebrate their accomplishments. We should all be grateful they allow us to work for the same company. So next time you ask for a raise from your meager $12/hr, be aware that they can't afford to pay YOU while celebrating themselves.

WAIT! What Christmas party. Funding for any type of Christmas celebration in the retail store has been cut to basically nothing.
