Just wondering....

I have a manager who says one thing and does another. Problem is they are too stupid to even remember that they are lying. My manager is the prototypical MetLife manager who was probably good individual contributor so got promoted to being way over their head not knowing anything about strategy, business, or people management.
I have had 5 managers since I’ve been with Metlife (10 years) and frankly they’ve all been great. They’ve all had strengths and weaknesses but I’d work for any of them again in a heart beat.
My manager tries but I know she's hamstrung by our SVP. Next round of layoffs they should clear house at the top.
I do!
Although in full disclosure I left Metlife last year...
Thats not true about "happy holidays" being the only thing you can say.
You are allowed to say Happy Diwali!
@InclusionBeginsWithMe: I know what you mean.
Apparently "Happy Holidays" is what you can say.
Don't want to offend anyone.
Merry Christmas!
I'm waiting for ANY manager (lower, middle, executive) to publicly post MERRY CHRISTMAS on Yammer. Not acknowledging CHRISTMAS (the day everyone has off!) is a severe case of microaggression.
What I find interesting is that the focus here is limited to Managers and Directors. A better question would have been does anyone have good middle and upper management?
What about leaders above Director level? Honestly it seems the tone starts at the top. A manager and Director can only do so much to make life better. And I do think there are good ones out there but not enough for me to say most of them are. And it pains me to say that.
Oh yes, I have a good manager and director …..lol!!!! Really??? Who is fishing for this response??? Who wants to pretend so badly that there are not bad managers and directors? This must be Todd…Will the next post be who thinks we are reviewed and paid fairly???
I like the person who responded on behalf all associates by saying most of us have good managers and directors….unreal. And insulting to people who do not…and THAT is what is wrong with this company.
My Voice Survey results says it all…
My manager was amazing. My manager left because my manager was smart.
Fu-k all of the id--ts that are left managing people.
The only good managers still around are looking to leave.
I need a good leader. A good boss-man or lady. Without an overseer, I'd be lost and disconnected from my exciting job that puts food in my childrens' mouths.
Yes. I do.
If I lose that manager, I will very likely head for the door myself.
In a sense, your manager IS the company, to you.
Only in a sense though.
The amount of bovine manure at this company is unbelievable.
Even with a good manager, there are many days when I ask myself why I am here.
My manager is hands down the best manager I've ever worked for. No lie. I feel lucky tbh.
First director was OK, but kind of vaporware. Had great ideas, sh-t execution. They got cut in one of the rounds of layoffs earlier this year.
Second director is awful with a capital A. Whereas the old director allowed for spontaneity, creativity, and agile problem-solving this new one is the boomerest of the boomer managers. Extremely hierarchal to the point where we are not allowed to contact them unless we go through our manager.
I am actively looking to get out from this director despite having a manager I love. It sucks.
You must work for Todd.
Yes. Several of us do. Perhaps even most.
