You mean unskilled union jobs where to bully a business into paying you $25/HR to clean the inside of a stator, right? Work my 7 yr old could do......now your mad that cant be a "career" anymore? Right.....Seems to be plenty of engineering, sourcing and finance jobs in the good ol' USA.

GE used to invest heavily into the American Worker and if you look back at its history, it's obvious. It wasn't until the 80's when they realized the fat and d-mb entitlement workforce they were creating. Hourly wages were increasing but skills stayed flat and motivation decreased if anything. Day after day the risk of moving overseas became more and more appealing. I remember GE expanding into Holland and Japan back in the early 80's. It didn't take GE too long to realize there was a much more grateful workforce out there just waiting to be hired. So here we are today... people need to stop acting so surprised.

I’m a T and I hope my job don’t leave. This is a great company to work for. A lot of good people here and family’s based their living on GE wages. About 98% of the T’s could not survive on their old wages. They would go bankrupt I see it in their faces day in and day out. They are scared of the future!
