It is not my intention to cause panic, I do not have any concrete and verified information, I am just questioning the rumors I have heard!!!
Some of my colleagues are really convinced that it is possible that the company will stop giving severance pay in the near future and that is why they hope to get laid off in the next round, while they are still giving packages. I personally do not believe that this is possible, but I am interested in what you think?

I’m in the Uk, I was made redundant from VMware in Jan2021. My replacements started a couple of months after I left.
I suspect with vaccine requirements pushing some folks out they may not lay people off.
The only way to stop giving packages is to follow local redundancy laws. In the U.K. it would include 12 weeks consultation period, not allowed to re-hire in same position and I think company wide and not just department specific as well as VMware would have to proof there’s a need for redundancies.
I hear they're going to hire Norm Peterson to call people and tell them they are fired.
I hear they are also considering the use of firing squads, much faster way of doing it.
