Our department (ENG) pressured us into an all-hands in-person event when cases were surging last week. Someone attending was Covid positive. Now lots of the department has Covid, throwing a wrench into holiday plans just so we could move Jira cards on a screen together.
The next day, we get vague messages from management saying we should maybe all get tested, but they did NOT send everyone home from the office, leading to potentially even more infection.
After awkwardly dodging it for a few days, we now get an email half-apologizing and half saying we’re a stronger team for the experience.
Contact tracing took days and it was all gossip and hearsay to figure out the truth. This company is a train wreck.
