Thread regarding Giant Eagle layoffs

Is corporate hemorrhaging employees?

I left about 3 months ago, and keep in touch with old coworkers. It seems like people are jumping ship, but it could just be the folks I know.

Can anyone confirm more or less departures? Thanks

Yep, retail employees...it's a revolving door. Smh. I don't even bother getting to know new hires names, if they last a month, that's a new milestone. We had employees who worked for 5+ years quit and go work at another retailer because they paid more!

Not sure if anyone is noticing but retail employees and retail leaders are leaving left and right..

I was told by someone in HR that they can’t keep up with the jobs that need filled in the retail locations. Apparently they fill one job and 4 to 5 more open up each day.

Yeah, I stuck around until the bonus was paid, then put in my notice a few weeks after.

The folks I still talk to in e-commerce are not having a good go. Lots and lots of senior people leaving, hiring of super inexperienced pm's and almost every new engineering job being earmarked for the GEB team in India.

Doesn't seem like a stable environment

I know of half a dozen people who’ve resigned in the last 3-4 business days. It’s a little nuts. I’ve seen this before after bonus payout, but February is sort of an odd time.

Yowza! How long until the "brilliant" CTO retires and leaves the rest of the organization to clean up his mess?

So glad I got out when I did.

Oh yea. When the ship is sinking you get off. I recently heard corp employees including salary retail employees had a combined 58% turn over in the last 14 months.. That should tell you something about this company

Yep.. Employees are starting to realize Giant Eagle has nothing to offer it’s employees. Maybe I should say nothing new to offer it’s employees. Other companies are getting creative to attract new employees. Better pay, more paid time off etc. Not Giant Eagle. They keep running the company like they have for the last 40+ years. They believe the employee owes them..
