With the shutdown of health and more, rumor has it Boston Landing to close, take the lumps on the lease, and save money?

I did a short tour at Bose. At the time Boston Landing was the only hot topic. Health and Wellness was the new, upcoming division. If you weren't in that division you were a nobody. Bose bought/leased 3 floors of unfinished office space and partially occupied 1 floor with new bee engineers. Now I see this and looks like they got no where in 6 years with B/L and the Health and Wellness Division.
Anyone know estimated number of those that were let go? LinkedIn seems like a lot of health and engineering folks. Was supply chain impacted?
Wait health is complete gone? What happened last week? Can someone share the (high) low lights? Of what the heck happened?
Shedding more properties/leases seems inevitable and fits the pattern
- Westborough - firings over time then relocated to remaining to Framingham
- Stowe - firings over time then relocated remaining to Park Place, mostly, complete
Definitely more must be in play. Way too much square footage and expense against remaining staff after the present firings and business/product terminations. Also accounting for those that will remain primarily WFH. The Corporate Center has a lot of empty space. Seems prime to put more R&D into, which would interestingly breach a cultural barrier.
My bets to go - Boston Landing, the empty property and warehouse by the RES, the small building between Park Place and Mountain Road, and the RES. That area is very hot and it has to be beyond tempting to go after more clearly needed cash in the bank.
I don’t see Bose closing ASD- seemed like the only viable source of income coming in before I left and of 2019. I could definitely see them closing boston landing. That place was a money pit with the hopes of bringing in new talent from folks that live in the city. Bose is no longer a company people want to work for including internal and external. The closing vs not closing of boston landing shouldn’t be a game changing decision to stay or leave the company. It’s a sinking ship. My advice to anyone who has made it through layoffs is to start apply asap. The job market is insanely hot right now and who knows what could come from a recession.
And to think not many years ago, the large parcel next to the RES was purchased for possible expansion. Ouch.
Another option might be to sell the res with pro. Plenty of room to redistribute what remains. Let the rumors and speculation flow forth…
Where will ASD end up? Consolidated back at the Mountain, or discontinued?
This will drive up resignations. Cheaper for the company than layoffs with severance, but it will be the more talented and valuable employees who will be more likely to find better jobs. Circling ever closer to the drain.
That would be the logical thing to do.
