Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

GA ASI built several buildings believing that they would get MQ-25. Well they didn't, they lost and not only lost, lost badly. They weren't even 2nd in the running. They were the only one with a working prototype but finished 3rd. They were $1.3 billion higher than the winning bid which was Boeing. I thought that was foolish on their part to build all of those buildings like that. They were counting chickens before they hatched. They could have recovered but poor management decisions hurt them. There were bad decisions made while I was there where if it was another company, the management would have been shown the door however, the management was rewarded by powers that be. Now the company is in decline and most of the good people are gone.

aww - were your feelings hurt? GA brought these hard times upon itself - the sexism, racism, good ol boys club, you name it which made all the good people leave. basically a mini-Enron. think about it. Labor is expensive, be it a janitor or engineer. Layoffs come with a financial penalty too - exit packages. It will be quite some time before GA has the capital to spend on real R&D to take to market. GA = zombie company or Lindn decides to cut his losses and sell. I think he will sell it:

EMS - Prototype weather satellite under contract since 2020. Major contract. So huge that employees were layoff yesterday.

Hopefully, we don't get any more contracts like this!

I also find it funny that the executive staff at EMS was given over 750K in year end bonuses all while claiming there isn’t any money left to keep employees……. Be careful of who you lay off, some of us may have direct knowledge of the overhead accounts.

EMS just won a major AF contract that wasn’t announced on the 9th. So I find this post very funny 😁

They just said 126 total.
Didn't elaborate on Division's
The others I know of were older experienced. My feeling its a rebuilding around what they see as their target busness.
No grudges here, they are in trouble, in many ways. My exit package was generous and gives me time to find a new door to open.
