Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

March layoffs

"Husband and all the others in group were laid off today. Yesterday was business as usual and today the call came."

I read this in the comments, it was posted about two weeks ago. It nearly gave me a heart attack. What's going on? I haven't heard about any layoffs? Are they now randomly picking people and laying them off, one by one?

The WFR are continuous under the guise of cost cutting, bottom line if you are USA employee they are WFR you to move your job to low cost center outside the USA. Happening now and just happen to me been here 25 plus years

This is still news? HP started laying off at a regular pace back in 2001 under Carly Fiorina's rule and has never stopped. HP is a shareholder-owned company that lays off regularly and uses the salaries saved to show make-believe profit and growth to their shareholders. Why people still want to work for that has-been 20th century company is beyond me. I refuse to work for any Public Company as they are all the same, profit over all else. Look for privately held companies or government jobs if you want your work to count and not be let go just shy of retirement.

Sounds like the commenter who thinks the WFR is over is a pretty dim bulb. He’s probably next on the chopping block and does not even know it.

The WFR was completed end of last year.

WTF are you talking about?

This is NO "false information". Since the 13-15% WFR was announced in 2019, there have been lots of pockets of layoffs. The WFR is scheduled to complete by end of this year, so unless there has been enough attrition from people leaving HP on their own the rest of this year could be trouble.

FYI - The Boise campus is now like a ghost town, and HP's presence at this campus (which is now fully owned by the State of Idaho) is so small that if you drove by the campus you might not even know HP was still there.

Nearly gave you a heart aatack? A bit of an overreaction, don't you think?

Also, that supposed spouse talking about their husband comment can be found in numerous areas across different companies on this website, so frankly, I think it's false information.
