I was part of the Texas management team for over two decades. After taking the VSP, I sought a non-management job at a competitor for peace of mind. I recognize the angst behind all these comments. I’ve been RIF’d twice, lost my job title in the big merger, passed around from division to division, had a boss divert my bonus to a favorite employee one year, and witnessed some pretty cutthroat leadership decisions. My advice is to look at the bright side (benefits, WFH flexibility, some sense of a stable salary, and even the cafeteria food if it’s good!) and do what it takes to survive. In Texas, it is at will employment. You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to.
