Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

Distribution of work

The distribution of work is rather strange at the Apache. While some never get to relax, others do almost nothing. I have nothing against them, but I have noticed that the distribution of work has never been more unfair. By what principle are some constantly overwhelmed while others don’t even have to pretend to be doing something?

Every time someone leaves our group, I end up taking on the work thinking it will go to whoever we hire to replace who left. Nope. We hire the replacement, they barely do any of the work I had been doing, I continue to do it to prevent impact to others or fall behind, all while the new person makes more than I do. Promotions are a thing of the past with new title structure, as are any sizable merit increases. I am still floating but will never be compensated for the additional responsibilities I have been given or taken on.

Must be a favorite so you don't have to do anything and still get promoted.

Well, it comes from the top, who has the worst performance and makes the most money? It's really hard to think how they could have picked a worse CEO.
