Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Depressing place.

I'm starting to despise this company. People who were great to work with are no longer there. Everyone is very cautious, anxious and people prefer to work completely under the radar because this place is so toxic.
I hope to get an offer soon, because this place has become so depressing. Do you agree?

Note to all - this is not the 1970's and companies no longer offer lifetime employment. If you want that, look to public sector! Every company needs to transform but it needs a vision - at HV, vision is like a revolving door and changes too frequently for meaningful transformation to stick! Major mistake with the Bobby and Brad $hit$how that caused a significant talent drain from HV - changing to GK and his vision doesn't paint a realistic means for executing his "vision".

If you have talent, there's a place for you in the market today outside HV - it just takes some courage to decide to change. If you choose to stay, it's a choice but please stop bitc#ing about staying at a rudderless company. It will continue to flail until the mothership loses its patience and finds another "savior"

LoveHV must be a corporate troll. No way is anyone that happy working in this dumpster fire.

GK's vision is to transform storage to the cloud without taking too big a hit (not likely),
convert the bulk of revenue to services (thats where the GL acquisition comes in) and hope for success on high value drivers like IOT/digital (again tiny fraction of revenues).

So far, nothing wrong with the strategy but the reality is other than storage, the rest is all smoke and mirrors. The people who are most bullish on our prospects are the people living in the smoke and mirrors portion, they get the investment while the storage area is bled dry. Not surprising, and not wrong either, just that the real pain is yet to come.

Happy for the the "LoveHV" poster in @vsfc+1fg6OQ6f and hope things continue to work out for them. Odd that someone so happy with their lot would be looking at a site related to layoffs, though.

This is great company to work for. Management is strong and focused. Pay is unbelievably high. Plenty of bonus incentives. Fellow workers are happy and supportive of each other. I look forward to a long prosperous career here.

...and with that they were gone again. Perhaps the site admins were worried about copyright infringement :)

For what it's worth, I'd agree with a lot of the sentiment expressed here - a lot of the people I speak to seem as fed up as the OP and I think some of that was reflected in the recent company survey.

Most of the new management team have been here for 12-18 months now and I don't see a real change in strategy. I think Japan will carry on supporting HV for the foreseeable future, so I suspect we'll continue to limp along for some time yet.

It definitely is depressing and you're not alone! its most likely this way at a lot of places, but for me this is the worst place in terms of 'team' environment. No one talks to one another! and WFH makes it 100x worse.

You’ll need a good supply of anti-depressants to work at this dump. Never saw some many miserable employees at one company. Everyone is hanging thier head low with disgust and anger. Management has no clue how to run a business.

Storage guy is correct. For (at least) the last 15 years, the “old business” (aka Storage) was (& still is ) keeping the company afloat, pumping $ to other dreamers team that keep failing to generate revenue and profit. Everyone knows the answer why this practice continues till today - the management team that are (& were) good at BS + only care for their own compensation and bonus.

I agree with storage guy. The legacy storage business is the life raft for this company but it has a slow leak as that revenue stream is drying up. The lies that come from that hologram CEO is too pathetic to bear.

Storage guy: sorry the company has to shift priorities to more profitable market opportunities. Hope it works. But if you don’t believe in it, you should leave.

Don’t see anything that HV is doing to make things miserable that other companies don’t do.

Anon that posted 3 days ago. Those that seem happy are in the areas that are in the HV limelight. Getting lots of investment monies and not being held to a high level, BTW those areas are making very little to no money. Its the old business that is keeping the company afloat.
So those that want to fawn over the the new shiny things...... Its all smoke and mirrors.

Change is hard? Sure. No reason to make life miserable for folks though.

Do not agree. People are happier than I’ve seen in a while. Change is hard and it’s painful. What we are enduring is no worse than most other companies. If you’re situation isn’t good, move on fast. Don’t waste your life being unhappy.
