I used to love working here. And then the SS&C takeover happened. Now that I’m leaving in a few days I wonder if everything would be equally as bad in this company even if that acquisition never happened? Some say that it wouldn't make much difference, but I'm not so sure.

Agreed. DST was always a sweatshop; still is. It's just gotten even worse.
Congrats on getting out of DST/SS&C.
I worked there from the early 2000's to 2017. From what I can tell, the beginning of the bad times was the arrival of the Hooleys and the first layoff in 2008. From then on it was layoffs every year and benefits being shaved off.
But you don't have to worry about that ever again, just like me. I'm happy for you.
You are wrong - DST only sucked once S H came in and sold his soul and now living on the Cape living on how he screwed the rest of us.
Trust me, SS&C wishes the acquisition never happened as well. They got had.
If SS&C had never purchased DST? Well I worked there long before and after SS&C. The company was poorly run from 1982 onwards, management has been bad since then, it really has only turned a small bit worse with the SS&C purchase. If there was a unhappiness gauge for "DST", its been stuck at the unhappy side since 1982. Never been over to the happy side. Unless your management collecting the big compensation. If you have lived in Kansas City for any length of time and mention DST to someone who knows of it, the word "sweatshop" is then mentioned within 30 seconds by that other person.
