Apparently, TC Energy will layoff people...soon...
Not to scare anyone...but people are talking.
The truth is that Safety, Quality, etc, etc...and ALL other "Specialists" & "Advisors" should be looked at again...
Yes, some are moving around in Canada (SK,AB,BC)...in order to escape...
but hey, some of us would like to know, who hires them on and off, who keeps them and why...?

What an unfortunate sh-t show TC Energy has become. There used to be an ethical culture full of collaboration and integrity. Now it's slipping away. Poor tone from the top an inexperienced people leaders. So many key personal leaving - the place is a skeleton of what it used to be. Such a shame.
What happened around here? When I was a a new grad employee the culture was so positive, then it started to change and now it’s downright cancerous and poisonous.
I can’t think of one person who’s been hired into management in the last 5 years who is a good person let alone a leader(ok 2 people) the few that were have been ushered out (or are about to be), most of the leadership were always so supportive but they either retired, got marginalized or were paid to leave. Is this just the Company being a representation of the broader society?
I’m not naive to corporate restructuring, but this company has gone from a 9 to a 3 almost overnight.
If this corporation was a person it’s DSM-5 profile would hit every diagnostic criteria. If it was a human it would be locked up. It’s a great place for junior employees to get some excellent experience and make ok income but don’t tattoo the logo on your forearm! Leaving seems tempting but other places might be slightly worse?
Don't forget substance abuse.
3 weeks and counting. Tech Center is being gutted. Likely liquids as well.
It’s a whole ego game playbook for career climbing corporate sociopath types.
Build up your own empire to make yourself more powerful by expanding your reports and layers of management.
Then you force your middle management/director peons to do the dirty work of disposing an arbitrary percentage of the plebes to show how ruthlessly dedicated you are to the efficiency of the business. This also reinforces a fear based obedience amongst the organization which furthers your control and power.
Wait about 6 months before starting to rebloat the organization by rehiring and re-adding layers and the cycle starts over again…
When this power game gets old you start gunning for your peers and try to rise higher or failing that you jump ship to a higher role in another company and leave the wreckage you created behind, all while being heralded as a business leader which further feeds your ego.
Meanwhile at home you are likely divorced or have a toxic partnership and if you have children they are likely fuckups because of your poor parenting…
Nothing technical about the tech center.
The tech center all got an email announcing upcoming changes late March. I'd assume quite a few layoffs from individual contributor to director levels in that timeframe. Tech center is where careers go to die!
Is Chris Humes still there?
Other than the one prominent firing, I haven't heard of anything else.
