I don't see how it would make sense for "old IBM entity" to buy the storage unit. IBM itself already has storage. I'm not sure they need yet another block storage platform. Also, IBM seems to have been divesting all their open systems products.
Kendryl was split off specifically as a managed services company. Any HW would not be a fit for them at all. Finally, if they sold off block storage, which is a Hitachi Limited product, what would they do with the rest of the Vantara storage portfolio? Sure, they could EOL all of it, but that can't be done overnight.
I'm going to file this one with the other baseless nonsense rumors I have seen on this site.
