Union Dues Alternative

In states without right-to-work laws, religious objectors can send their dues to a charity of their choice instead.

You may as well get something for that hard earned money.

Well...being in a RTW State I was not a big union fan since I had zero experience with them. After having seen how management can be I'm certainly happy to have them as intermediaries if need be. On occasion I hear folks say we don't need a union; my reply is that if you want to see how that would work out just observe how upper and middle managers treat those managers underneath them. I don't miss the $$ out of my check every month.

I would compare the average industrial wage in your area to your union wage. Also take into consideration seniority rights. The history of Unions and what they’ve done for the working man, Union and non Union alike. If you live in a state like California or Texas or New York the average industrial wage may be higher than what you are making now. In my area it’s not. If our next contract doesn’t rectify some of the disparity such as sick days, absentee policy etc. Then yes, we should question why are we Union. I think those things will be addressed. I am pro Union but if they don’t perform for the due’s we pay, let’s replace them. Replacing a Union with another is doable. They will throw a fit but it can be done.

Yeah the unions aren’t the greatest but the alternative is just dealing with the upper management clowns directly and we all see how they treat the managers. No thanks. I’ll keep the union.

I have been critical of my union past and present. But, I do attend meetings and do participate. In about the last decade, UP has gotten so bad towards agreement employees that I gladly pay union dues just to put SOMETHING between us and the carrier. Thats how BAD(!) UP has gotten.

All these manager trolls wish they had union protection. Sad.

I live paycheck to paycheck. After I pay my union dues 5% goes to StockUP and 10% goes to Jesus.
