I just quit

I work in the cloud engineering team and just put down my papers. Can’t work any more. So much negativity and turf building with no idea of where the vantage product should be in the next few quarters. SAFe is not quite safe any more. Line managers busy playing favorites and ignoring the rest. Lot of good senior technical folks have left just this year. LT doesn’t look worried at all, HA is MIA. DS is clueless as well. VPs and SVPs are not making decisions fast enough to plug the leaky bucket that OR made videos about.

I was a workaholic for last decade and half here without due recognition while we hired newbies from outside with 2x/3x pay that current employees get. Job leveling was a big sham as well.

I wish best of luck to folks that still want to be here. For rest on the edge, start preparing for the next gig.

Thanks for your years of hard work at TD. It’s so sad to see what has happened to the company with the revolving door of Sr Mgt … all thanks to a disastrous Board of Directors. The BOD has been paid handsomely for years all while “mailing it in” and casually watching the once amazing company sink like the Titanic.

@3hcx+1gIDLRcH - You must be from the "COE" who thinks they can do a better job than our actual engineers, developers and sales. Cloud hasn't been successful because the ELT wasted years thinking new logos and relentless redesigns were the way to go.

Nice to see that TD at least got themselves a cloud eng team. Leadership in early 2010s clearly picked up market trends and decided against it. Than, tried to build "new" product mostly in powerpoints. New logos is a song of 5 years ago, slowly bleeding into technological irrelevancy ...

You are part of the problem. Thank you for leaving. My guess is you built zero new skills while at TD and were part of the toxic back channel of getting nothing done in cloud. So good riddance.

It's amazing that you have been there for 15 years but why are you leaving now and not 3 years ago? say what you will about DS but he is certainly not the worst we've had and engineering is less toxic than 2 years ago and I am finally assigned something that I know has a future. I know this will get downvoted. I am just really surprised you chose to leave now but wish the best of luck in your next job.

Congratulations. You will be so glad you left this dying company with poor leadership. Cloud engineering at TDC is an oxymoron. Nothing is cloud-native. It is so bad that none of the competitors even talk about Teradata. Find a company that is growing and has stable, smart leadership that values diversity, but is not consumed by virtue signaling. There will be politics where ever you go but not like the toxic environment at TDC. And you will probably make more money too. Best of luck
