Why leave without severance pay?

I started looking a new job and managed to get a solid offer in a very short time. I didn’t leave because I think I can get one even better. So, it is possible to find a job in a reasonable amount of time. However, why go now and not take the package? I think DST would love it if we all left on our own without taking severance pay.

The better question is why stay? Is this a stable business? Is there job growth and potential for advancement? How will staying with this company improve your life? Will they be able to help you meet your long term goals? How about incentives?

You have to weigh the odds. Maybe when you’re laid off in 6 months it will be harder to find a job. Why not take that new job now, collect two pay checks? That’s what I did after lay offs in 2014. I’ve been stack cash for years. Thanks Bill!
