We are being told we must do all clerical work and tie up on this horrid cell phone device. In the f...g yard where computers are available. Mine arrived as promised but the sinister device will not connect to the network! Just a blank white screen displayed. Whoever is forcing these worthless devices on us should be reassigned to the sweatshop in h...ll where theyre assembled!!

I remember crews were saying the devices were being used to eventually eliminate the YM positions. As far as the tracking goes, why does it matter? Go ahead and find a train in the system that isn't monitored AT ALL TIMES. When you have cameras in the locomotive cabs, rail yards, and GPS monitored locomotives, it would actually make personnel tracking a bit redundant. Yes, I'm sure they can track where the device is but again why does it matter? The handheld devices do get lost from time to time. I had to laugh at the "listen in on your conversations" moment. WHY???? That would literally be the same as installing a camera or microphone in a public bathroom! What if that person is actually using the bathroom, and realized someone is listening in? To some people it would be funny, but it's also very illegal to do. You can't do illegal audio surveillance.

I use one daily for inventory reporting, tie up, etc. I’m told they also track you with them and can listen in on your conversations. It’s making life easier in one sense and of course terrible in another. Most complain about added reporting duty’s such as yard master work without extra pay. It’s definitely unsafe to be reporting on the device while switching I think it’s going to get someone hurt or even worse because they lost focus.
