Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Well the results are in for retail market and it’s not looking good

Retail markets are not looking good. Target dropped a ton in profits. All these people are blaming randy for a terrible quarter when other retailers had much worst results. Maybe Randy is doing something right. The rest of this year is going to be a huge challenge for all of the retailers. Inflation and fuel cost is on a rocket ship going sky high with no end insight. I feel we are lucky to have randy leading us thru this challenging time.

We're traditional grocery and pharmacy. We were well positioned throughout the pandemic because of this model. This however had nothing to do with current corporate leadership, we've been traditional grocery for almost 100 years. The fledgling initiatives we had before the pandemic continued to be a drag throughout. We subsidize these initiatives on the backs of employees.

Giving the current administration credit for layoffs to save money is like giving an arsonist credit for throwing a bucket of water on the fire he started. A frenzy of hiring, quickly followed by a frenzy of layoffs and an escalating series of PR gaffes trying to explain it all, is evidence of poor management. There is no other way to spin it. All grocers are operating in the same economy, but others aren't laying off hundreds of people and then criticizing them in company videos.

Yeah, keep dreamin....Randy is in bed with Hollywood and now race car drivers. It started with Curtis Stone and has went downhill from there. He is like a child that didn't get the hot wheels cars he wanted at that age, and now, or I should say had, millions at his disposal, and has managed to pi-s it all away. ...to he-l with the employees, it's all about his ego, and nothing else.

HyVee is on the right track. HyVee probably made a mistake by hiring so many corporate employees. Randy did the right thing by trimming the fat at corporate level. Since we are not expanding down south there is no need for extra supervisors or other wasted roles. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision to be made since it was Randy’s dream to expand HyVee foot print. Trust me just believe in HyVee leadership and they will score touchdowns for us. Yes we had to punt the ball for now but it was what was best for HyVee at the time.

You are correct, retail is struggling…the entire economy is struggling. But Randy Edeker and the majority of the executive committee are focused on the wrong things. This is poorly educated group of self centered and selfish people that take no responsibility of the poor decisions they have made.
The last 5 years were bad, but with accounting tricks — huge corporate tax break and Covid….the return was saved.
Nice try Randy!!!
