Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Advance to a store manager

I’m not going to name anyone specific (because I think the administrators here delete posts with identifiable information), but in general, there aren’t many good SMs at Belk.
Many do not have the qualifications to be SM, even though they are in that position. That is my personal opinion. My question is how to advance to SM position?

Quit being a mo--n and actually hustle and do some work. Open some Belk cards for heaven’s sake. You mo--ns always looking for a handout. Sheesh!

First off all I will say that yes, the administrators 100% DO delete posts with identifiable information. I posted a long post up here last week specifically calling out my store manager by name and our store number and it got removed shortly after. Pretty ridiculous.

Anyways, you are 100% correct. There are maaaaaaany store managers who have absolutely no business having that position. At all.
In all honesty, to become a SM, it’s all about who you know and how much a** you are willing to kiss. It also helps if you’re a toxic human much like my SM.
So, if you’re willing to become a toxic kiss*ss, you’re well on your way my friend.

“Nepotism” is the most common way to secure top positions in any career advancement in this fake business world. Don’t you think ex-Belk CEOs Lisa Harper or Nir Patel were advanced to top executive positions by showing expensive Ivy League Degrees and excellent financial business management skills? It is not what you know, but who knows you from inside like Belk or Sycamore Partners! Go figure and good luck!
