Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

A question for employees who worked for Symantec prior to Broadcom acquisition

As a VMware employee, I am quite disappointed and worried about the acquisition. I'm interested in your experiences when Broadcom acquired Symantec?

Management had nothing to say regarding cuts. They layed off most experienced guys as well. I believe criteria was amount of tickets. So if you were second line and did 30 per month and not 100 as first line than you will be fired.

I fully understand the feeling , I was in the same spot in 2019 when this was announced at Symantec.
Broadcom is ruthless when it comes to deep cuts- they will decide what percentage of folks they need to retain and will leave it to the management to decide - the rest is all a guessing game after that - the suspense, anxiety, tension only gets worse with each passing day. This is what is the most horrible part.
You can never really tell how they plan to go about with VM however there will be deep cuts and there’s no running from that - you will see many layoffs over the next year or so in phases and most will just leave on their own.

Symantec was a great company brought down to its knees by these BRCM folks. Just ask yourself one question- where is Symantec today ? From the top position in cyberspace security today they are no more the choice of option . Many enterprises have discontinued using Symantec products and moved to other companies offering better service

They practically eliminated most of Technical Support , HR, Finance, Care , Edu, Sales , partner services etc .
