Just when I thought Giant Eagle couldn't get ANY lower, it appears that they have an agreement put in place to hire migrants, immigrants, who can barely say two whole sentences in English and this is at store level!!! Thank you corporations of America for your never ending greed!!🙄

There's no such "agreement" in place to hire them and if there was, there would be no way in he-l Giant Eagle would enter into one of them agreements. Most migrant workers come in with an H-1B visa and any company hiring them on those types of visas must pay them $60,000 or more. They barely wanted to pay any of us U.S. citizens let alone give us decent hours, so what makes you think they want to hire a person with a visa that they have to pay $60k to, lol! More than likely they are permanent residents of the country where there is no income requirements like having to pay them $60k or more. If nobody is willing to take the job, maybe they were hired last resort.
If you haven’t noticed there are thousands of positions open right now. This includes most retail environments. GE is just one of them all in the same boat.
I guess the same reason you come here if you don't work for the company right ?
I don't work at GE anymore, either. I worked in corporate for a year and half, saw the horrible business practices and left.

I don't even work for your company therefore I can't drink anything that might be offered. You keep complaining to complain and the basic issues with pay, responsibility and so forth. No retailer (offers goods or services) is going to pay a high wage for stocking shelves and ringing up customers. What you see in that world right now is close to the ceiling. If you have any education you would know this.
You still deny the simple fact. This forum and others show that your company workers are not happy and want to leave. Yet this thread shows that the same people are upset if positions went to someone else. You can't rationalize that with any conspiracy theory.

Increase pay, benefits and maybe, just maybe, get rid of some of the completely useless corporate VP positions to better your employee situation, (really need that 2nd VP of employee equity and diversity). 🙄

How are employees a victim? The job market in the last two years has been wide open and still is. This isn't about politics. It is a simple observation.
Look at the title of the posts. It appears that everyone or at least 50% of employees are not happy. Then someone makes a false claim and the very people that are not happy, advise people not to work at the stores, want to leave are the very same people mad at the jobs (alleged) being given way. This is complaining to complain. Or perhaps its like putting in 2 weeks then saying, no wait you cant give my job away. Sc--w you I'll stay even though I hate it.
Again you can't deny a basic observation here. It's has plain as two sides of a coin.
Its right there in the open. No hiding or theory's. No politics or agendas. Just reading the posts and comparing them to the several 100 on this site.
Now seriously if you had any business intelligence (even 101 business) you would know that company turn is an expense not a means to end. Turn over hurts every organization in a wide variety of ways.
Right now on the giant eagle jobs site there's 2015 open jobs across all stores/corporate/all states. But yeah, sure, the migrants are taking all the jobs at GE. There's legitimate things this site is for. If you're just concerned with making up things to further poltical talking points then go to facebook
So lets get this right.
This forum, this company, postings are filled with; I'm leaving this place, staffing is low or no staff at all, overworked staff, cr-p pay, turn over is crazy, all of 'leadership' should be fired (again same complaint as every other retailer) and the list goes on and on.
Then your post is upset because they hire people who may want to work?

But do you see the irony here? According to the postings everyone believes this company is horrible and everyone is on the way out AND advise people not to work here. Then why would any employee care who they hire or who works there?

Corporate HR working with Catholic Charities and other organizations. Wages supplemented with government programs and money. The "migrants" are making more than most American born workers.
To the :Sorry, Archie OP, I currently work there, what are you talking about?? The point is they never have to pay a livable wage again since they are filling positions with migrants now. Suprisingly there are a lot of people who do want to work at Giant Eagle but within a few weeks of being hired they leave once they find out the truth about this company. No room for advancement, no pay raise regardless of learning multiple job functions, understaffed in each department, no real benefits, and scheduling issues. You are seen as a number regardless of how long you've worked at Giant Eagle. They do not care and we employees feel it and know it!

The USA also used to be known as a country where a hard working individual could support their family and have a hope of retirement at some point in their lives.

Inmates? That's crazy....God help us! They would rather hire inmates and migrants than pay a NORMAL wage! 11.00 an hour doesn't pay any bills unless you are on section 8, Snap/EBT benefits!!!
This company OWES their workers. They do not pay fair wages for many years now, they have swindled employees out of normal pay raises based on their "job classification", they have also gotten rid of any real benefits to working there as a new employee. They start at 11.00 an hour and an individual can literally stay at that rate for years, even though they have been trained for multiple positions, based on "job classification". It's not a good place for ANYONE who has an American dream in mind. This is why they are hiring migrants because they don't know any better and theh know the government will cover where thier slave wages will not!!!
They are getting desperate. No one is applying to work at Giant Eagle so they need to go to plan B and hire Migrants.. Rumor has is they will soon be getting inmates who are on work release to work in retail locations
You begrudge people who are learning a new language that need a job to eat and have a place to sleep? That corporation has done a good thing by giving that person a chance in a new country.
