Nap pods in Woodland and Greenway

Are there any thoughts given by Oxy for reservable nap pods in Greenway and Woodlands? It will be a great idea and increase productivity.

You can bring a pillow and sleep on your prayer blankee.

Seriously nap pods? I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole because that wouldn't be sanitary for as quickly they would need to be cleaned out for the next person. Everyone would also want to take a break at the same time durring a mid day break. It would be wasteful to spend money on that just let us all work from home since we all have our own beds to take a small mid day break in. It's one of the many things that makes us all more efficient when working from home. I think one day in the office and four days at home is best. Many may not even need the one day in the office if they have excellent communication, collaboration and MS Teams skills.

I need to be tucked in with my blankie as well. I know very hard working young people at Oxy. They work as hard as anyone and that is the way it should be. They will be the leaders of the future and all these WFH and nap pod fools should know that is who they will be working under for many years to come. You can’t call your peers that work hard boomers. The boomers will be long gone when you are at the bottom of the ladder working for the ones that had the drive. I applaud our young talent that give it their all. At some point you are going to have to get the slackers working. All you nap pod id--ts are the exception. Go to the back of the line losers.

Work from home for two years, shortened workweek and now nap pods?... I'm ready to return my COC money and get back to "work". Frozen margarita's in the coffee station next???

If you cannot keep your focus for 8 hours a day with lunch and a few 10 minute breaks then get out of the adult work world.

The prospect of having to work 8 hours in a single day with only an hour break for lunch simply makes me sad. I’m not a robot and can only push myself so far without my health suffering. I’m not kidding.

I agree that it maybe a bit costly idea but definitely worth exploring. Sometimes 2-3 days in a week can be hard to not feel sleepy and tired in afternoons.

I’m sorry kids but big tech offices with nap pods, basketball courts, and espresso machines that allow you to skate board around the office in cut-offs, tank tops and flip-flops are not the norm. There is nothing to suggest that they are even the future. The handful of businesses that do offer this do it more for marketing themselves to customers (see how cool we are) than to employees. OXY is not competing with big tech.

Who are all of these tech companies that Oxy is competing against? Who has left Oxy for a job with one of these tech companies? Are people leaving by the 1s, 10s, 100s, or 1,000s?

Guys no need to get so vicious. I know most people had hard life and the young generation has no idea the pains of it. But look at the other companies out there in tech sector embracing these ideas. We compete with all sectors for new recruits and we need to consider these things.

The company has to have employment criteria metrics independent of oil prices. VH is way too nice to the employees at the expense of the stockholders. Of course that could be remedied by a bump up of the dividend back to 3 dollars a share. Although between us friends I would take half of that for now.

The real problem is a lot of people have no idea what hard times are. We have become a spoiled society of a bunch of people that have everything. Be down at the bottom a few times and you will learn how to appreciate a good job and benefits, and just the fact you and your family have something to eat and a place to sleep is a bonus in itself. The last thing you should ever worry about is a nap at the office. He-l you can take a nap a home the Mondays and Fridays you work from home, and sleep in late the Friday you are off. Most if us have it pretty easy here at Oxy, and not to realize that just shows how out of touch the OP is.

No nap pods, but you could bring your own crib. More sanitary.

They are considering it along with bottles and someone to change your diaper when you do a p-o p-o. Will you be wearing your jammies to the office or should we provide you those too?

Both Greenway and Woodlands have nice hotels nearby. The company could book a block of rooms and people could sign up for one hour time slots. But don’t expect clean sheets unless you have the first slot of the day.
